Migration in 5 steps

  1. Discovery

    Audit current Teams Calling setup - users, numbers, Calling Plan, queues. Quote 3CX edition + Direct Routing setup.

  2. Direct Routing build

    Configure M365 Direct Routing, install certificates, provision SBC, set up 3CX queues/IVR matching current Teams setup.

  3. Number port

    Port numbers from Microsoft Calling Plans to our Australian carrier. Most ports complete in 10–15 business days.

  4. Parallel run

    Some users on Teams Calling, some on 3CX Direct Routing. Test thoroughly.

  5. Cutover

    All users routed via 3CX. Teams Calling licences cancelled. M365 Teams licences retained.

Common questions

Will users notice the change?
Barely. The Teams app looks and works the same. Calls still happen in the Teams interface. The PBX intelligence (queues, recording, AI) happens in 3CX behind the scenes. Most users wouldn't notice the cutover without being told.
Do we keep our M365 / Teams licences?
Yes - your Microsoft 365 licences (which include Teams chat, video, presence) stay. You cancel only the Teams Phone (Calling) add-on. Most customers save $14–24/user/month per Teams user.
What about Microsoft Calling Plans we already paid for?
We work around them. If you're mid-contract, we time the migration for the renewal. Pre-paid call credits get used through the parallel period. We help you optimise the timing.
Can we still use Teams Phone numbers?
Numbers port to our Australian carrier and route via Direct Routing back to your Teams users. The number stays the same; only the carrier and PBX backend changes.
Why not just stick with Teams Calling?
If you're a small business with no queue/contact-centre needs and never plan to add AI features, Teams Calling can work.
