Does my call audio go to OpenAI?
Only if you choose OpenAI as the engine. You can run a 3CX Transcription Engine on your own GPU instead - audio never leaves your network, and only the resulting transcript is processed downstream. Available in AI Edition with AI Edition.
Can the AI Receptionist speak Australian English?
Yes - and 50+ other languages. You can choose accent and voice. We typically default to natural Australian English for Australian customers.
How much does the AI Receptionist actually cost?
The licence cost is bundled into the AI Edition annual price. Behind the scenes, the AI engine (OpenAI by default) charges per token used. For most SMBs that's $5–30 AUD per month of OpenAI usage - your direct OpenAI bill, separate from the 3CX licence. We help you set usage budgets in the OpenAI dashboard.
How long does AI setup take?
AI voicemail transcription: 5 minutes. AI Receptionist: 30–60 minutes including writing the business brief and call routing rules. 3CX Transcription Engine: 1–2 days including GPU server build. Sentiment tracking: 15 minutes to enable, ongoing tuning of alert thresholds.
Will the AI Receptionist replace my human receptionist?
