Migration steps

  1. Audit

    Inventory NEC platform model, handset count, number list, call flows, integrations.

  2. Design + handset plan

    Determine which NEC handsets can be repurposed (rare with NEC) vs replaced. Quote replacements if needed.

  3. Build + port

    Provision 3CX, mirror call flows. Submit number port to Australian carrier. Most NEC customers have NEC numbers held by a carrier (Telstra, Optus, etc) - port from there.

  4. Cutover weekend

    Typical pattern: parallel run, then weekend cutover when call volume is lowest. Decommission NEC on Monday.

  5. Recycle NEC hardware

    We dispose of or recycle decommissioned NEC equipment per Australian e-waste regulations.

Can my NEC handsets work with 3CX?
Generally no. NEC proprietary handsets typically don't run standard SIP. We replace with auto-configured Yealink, Fanvil, Snom or Polycom IP phones - comparable or better hardware at a fraction of the price of NEC replacements. Some newer NEC SIP-native handsets may work; we test during discovery.
How much is the handset replacement?
Quality SIP handsets (Yealink T-series, Fanvil X-series) cost $80–250 each - far cheaper than NEC. We auto-provision them so they ship ready to plug in and ring.
What about our existing numbers?
All Australian number types port. We submit LNP to your current carrier; ports complete in 10–15 business days. We run NEC and 3CX in parallel through the port window.
Can we keep our existing call recordings?
Yes - we extract recordings from your NEC platform and archive them in 3CX (or in a separate archive store with your retention policy). Recordings created post-cutover live in 3CX natively.
